Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is 3M VHB?
3M VHB is a double-sided tape made of 100% closed-cell acrylic foam. It is highly flexible and designed to replace screws, rivets, or welding. It offers excellent tensile and shear strength, and distributes stress perfectly.
How many 3M VHB series are there and what are the differences?
3M VHB is divided into 3 main groups: 1. Newer Series (GPH for high heat, LSE for hard-to-bond plastics). 2. Core Families (5952 black foam, 4941 for vinyl, 4910 clear). 3. Specialty Families (4611 for high temp, 4951 for cold environments).
What applications is 3M VHB suitable for?
Suitable for the automotive industry (body kits), construction (curtain walls, composite panels), signage, electrical appliances, and electronic component assembly.
3M VHB Tape 5930 is a 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) thick black double coated acrylic foam tape with PE film liner. The modified acrylic adhesive on both sides bonds to a broad range of high, medium and medium/low surface energy substrates including metals, glass and a wide variety of plastics and paints, including many powder coated paints. The very conformable foam provides good contact between substrates even when they are slightly mismatched. 3M VHB Tape 5930 is part of the 5952 tape family. Each product in this family has modified acrylic adhesive and very conformable foam but varies in thickness, color and liner type.
3M VHB RP16 Acrylic Foam Tape It is a gray, 0.016 mm (0.4 in), multi-purpose acrylic adhesive with a conformable foam core. It can replace rivets, welds and screws. The fast and easy to use permanent bonding method provides good strength and durability. It offers design flexibility with its viscoelasticity and can bond to a variety of surfaces even at lower temperatures.
Fast and easy-to-use permanent bonding method provides high strength and long-term durability Virtually invisible fastening keeps surfaces smooth Can replace mechanical fasteners (rivets, welding, screws) or liquid adhesives Gray, 0.025 in (0.6 mm), multi-purpose adhesive and conformable acrylic foam core for good performance in a variety of applications Eliminate drilling, grinding, refinishing, screwing, welding and clean-up Creates a permanent seal against water, moisture and more Pressure sensitive adhesive bonds on contact to provide immediate handling strength Allows the use of thinner, lighter weight and dissimilar materials
