Understand the Basics Before You Decide
What is Double-Sided Tape?
In an industrial context, tape is designed to replace screws, rivets, and welding. It consists of 3 main components:
- Carrier — Foam, Acrylic, PET Film, or Tissue
- Adhesive — Rubber or Acrylic based
- Liner — Protects the adhesive until use
Why Switch to Tape?
Reduce Production Costs & Time
No drilling needed, no waiting for glue to cure. Assemble and move to the next step instantly.
Preserve Surface Integrity
Smooth, seamless finish with no risk of rust.
Excellent Stress Distribution & Shock Absorption
Flexible material distributes stress across the entire surface, unlike screws which concentrate stress at a single point.
How to Achieve 100% Bonding Performance?
Solve the "tape won't stick" problem with 3 simple steps
1
Clean
Clean the surface with a 50:50 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water to remove grease and dust.
2
Press
Apply even pressure across the workpiece to ensure full adhesive contact with the surface.
3
Dwell
Allow the adhesive to set for 24–72 hours before bearing maximum weight.

Real-World Applications in 4 Key Industries
Automotive & Transportation
Acrylic foam tape is used to attach body side moldings, spoilers, emblems, and interior console panels. It withstands accumulated road vibration and rapid temperature changes (Thermal Cycling) without failing over its lifespan.
Signage & Architecture
High-tensile VHB tape creates a perfectly smooth surface for signs and building panels with no visible screw heads, enhancing premium aesthetics and preventing water ingress into the internal steel structure.
Electronics & Appliances
Micron-thin PET film with high adhesion is used to bond touch screens, batteries, and thermal pads without emitting harmful volatile organic compounds (Low Outgassing).
Packaging & Logistics
High-tack tissue/filament tape seals boxes instantly upon pressure. It won't pop open during transit, even in hot and humid shipping containers.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Which double-sided tape is best for outdoor use, withstanding sun and rain?
A: We recommend High-Density Acrylic Foam Tape (VHB) because both the adhesive and carrier are 100% acrylic with a saturated molecular structure. It offers excellent resistance to UV rays, moisture, and chemicals, and will not dry out, crack, or peel like typical rubber-based foam tapes.
Q: How can I prevent the tape from leaving adhesive residue when removed?
A: Prevent this from the start by choosing Removable / Low Residue Tape, which is designed to have higher cohesive strength than adhesive strength to the surface. If standard tape has already been applied, we recommend using a citrus-based adhesive remover spray or IPA, letting it sit for about 2 minutes, and wiping it off gently.
Q: Can I use double-sided tape to bond metal and plastic together?
A: Yes, but you must select a tape designed for Mixed Surface Energy. We recommend a blended acrylic formula tape along with applying a Surface Primer before taping, especially for Low Surface Energy (LSE) plastics like PP or PE, to maximize adhesion.
